AP industries on I-Day pledge to improve quality

Visakhapatnam Industries across Andhra Pradesh celebrated the 77th Independence Day with tremendous enthusiasm and a pledge to boost productivity by laying special emphasis on quality and cost-effectiveness.
Those located in Visakhapatnam, the industrial hub of AP and across Sri City, Krishnapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada gave service certificates to meritorious employees, held various competitions and conducted ceremonial parades.
Speaking at the largest industry of AP-Vizag Steel Plant, RINL CMD Atul Bhatt at the celebration held at Ukkunagaram said, “Let’s take the challenges ahead of us as opportunities and work together to make RINL the pride of the country.”
Bhatt hoisted the National Flag and took the salute accorded by the CISF Jawans at the sprawling Trishna Grounds.
Highlighting RINL’s performance during the period April-July of the current fiscal 2023-24, Bhatt said that the cumulative hot metal production of Rs 14.74 lakh tonne was 7 per cent higher than corresponding period last year (CPLY -2022-23). The cumulative finished steel production of 11.23 lakh tonne is 21 per cent higher than CPLY. The cumulative high-end value-added production of 5.03 lakh tonne was 71 per cent higher than CPLY.
On a cumulative basis, sales turnover of Rs 7,183 crore was achieved, which registered an impressive growth of 23 per cent over CPLY.
During the month of July, 2023, the high-end value-added production of 1.65 lakh tonne and sales of 1.30 lakh tonne achieved were the best for any month, since inception, informed Bhatt amidst thunderous applause. Sales turnover of Rs 1,927 crore was achieved in July, 2023, registered an improvement of 5 per cent over previous month, he added.
Highlighting about various alternatives which are being worked out to bring RINL out of the present cash crisis, the CMD said that NITs (notice inviting tender) were issued seeking offers for being trade partners and for supply of raw materials and take back blooms with a conversion cost. The offers are under different stages of negotiation.
VPA keen on public involvement
In his address, Dr M Angamuthu, Chairperson of Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) at the parade organised by the major port said they are firm on all-round development of Visakhapatnam with the active involvement of the residents and the stakeholders. He highlighted the significance of Independence Day and the progress made by the nation since attaining freedom. He emphasised the importance of preserving our hard-earned independence and working towards the betterment of the country. The Chairperson urged the employees to work hard hand-in-hand for the port’s growth. In his message, the Chairperson explained the major projects undertaken recently in VPA. He informed that with the cooperation of the residents in and around the vicinity of the port, they will have better congenial living conditions and would be proud to have a wonderful port.
As part of the celebrations, the VPA recognised and felicitated its employees with shields and certificates, who have rendered remarkable contributions to VPA.

NTPC Simhadri
The Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal and fervor at all NTPC Simhadri Sadana Kreeda Maidan. Sanjay Kumar Sinha (Head of Project, Simhadri) hoisted the National Flag. The moment was marked with rhythmic platoon performances by the CISF forces beaming with reverence for the nation.
Speaking on the occasion, HoP spoke about the contribution of the freedom fighters towards Nation building. The occasion also made for an ideal opportunity to felicitate achievers of the project by way of Power Excel Awards & GGM Meritorious Awards for their outstanding contribution in their respective work areas.
